About Dr. tAMMY bOWLER
Tammy graduated from Canadian Memorial Chiropractic College in Toronto, one of only two chiropractic colleges in Canada. She is an active member of the Ontario Chiropractic Association and Canadian Chiropractic Association.
Since graduating in 2004, she has practiced within a health group in the Toronto Beaches as a sole chiropractic practitioner. She then set up her own multi-disciplinary clinic in Don Mills offering; Chiropractic, Acupuncture, Massage Therapy, Naturopathic Medicine, Homeopathic Medicine and Nutrition. Tammy sold her practice in 2009, moving her family from Toronto up to their long-time family cottage in Huntsville. In Huntsville she practiced with another chiropractor and alongside a sports physician. Most recently Tammy opened Back in Balance Muskoka, which offers Chiropractic Services, Acupuncture, Shockwave Therapy, ART and Rehabilitative exercise programs. She has always, and continues to work collaboratively with other health care professionals to ensure the best care for each patient.
How is Tammy’s focus different?
Tammy has a special interest in sports related injuries which is as a result of being a life-long athletic and physically active person. Throughout her life she has participated on various sports teams, completed several personal short distance runs, a triathlon and adventure racing. Add in her experience as a personal trainer, certifications in Medical Acupuncture, Active Release Techniques (ART), several other biomechanics and athletic related courses along with working along-side a sports physician, has transformed her into a chiropractor with a sport and overuse injury focus.
She strives to educate patients on their condition, and uses the latest available evidence to diagnose and treat a wide variety of conditions. Tammy believes in offering a combination of therapies to decrease painful symptoms in conjunction with stretching and strengthening exercises to build long-term strength and stability. This approach often results in patients getting better faster, and prevents future episodes for more lasting and long-term relief.
She moved to Muskoka permanently in 2009 to find balance between her profession, family and love for an active and healthy lifestyle. She enjoys mountain biking, scuba diving, golfing, trail running with her dogs, boating, travelling abroad, kayaking, back country camping and downhill skiing with her family. She spends her spare time volunteering with the Rotary Club of Huntsville, giving back to the community and to the world.
Tammy believes everyone deserves to live a healthy and active lifestyle, it is her goal to help you bring optimal health back into balance.
